When the ocean rises and winds reach speeds capable of tearing off roofs and uprooting trees, humanity is once again reminded how much in this world is beyond its control. Typhoon "Bavi" — the ninth storm of the season — has already shown its power, making landfall twice in Zhejiang Province. Now it continues to rage along China's eastern coast, and authorities are doing everything possible to protect residents. Wind, rain and waves are all reminders that nature brooks no neglect, and only timely preparation can save lives.

Typhoon "Bavi" is approaching China's eastern coast, lashing Zhejiang Province with winds exceeding 140 km/h and prompting emergency measures across the region. As the typhoon nears, both Dongtou District in Wenzhou and Taizhou City are feeling the full force of Bavi. An orange storm surge warning has been issued in Dongtou District. Some local attractions and guesthouses have been closed due to strengthening winds and rain. Temporary restrictions have been imposed on all local sea bridges, banning the movement of people and vehicles. In Taizhou, all fishing vessels are moored in port, and fishermen have been evacuated. On Saturday, local authorities conducted door‑to‑door checks as a precaution in case any building becomes unsafe during the storm. Firefighters from across Zhejiang Province are also being deployed to Taizhou.

At around 15:00 on Saturday, the typhoon's Category‑10 wind zone reached the Huadian wind farm in waters northwest of Pishan Island in Yuhuan City, Zhejiang Province. Average wind speeds at the site exceeded 120 km/h, with maximum instantaneous gusts surpassing 140 km/h. Surveillance footage showed huge waves churning in the water, while storm‑force winds combined with torrential rain created a dense curtain that intertwined with the surging waves, causing visibility to drop sharply. All 32 wind turbines at the farm have been safely shut down, and duty staff are monitoring rainfall, wind conditions and equipment status around the clock.

Typhoon "Bavi" is the ninth tropical cyclone this season. On Saturday, it already made landfall twice in Zhejiang Province, causing widespread flooding and destruction. Provincial authorities raised the emergency response level to the highest, and the number of evacuees exceeded 2.2 million. As CCTV+ reports. Meteorologists warn that the typhoon will continue moving northwestwards, gradually weakening, but the threat of heavy rain and storm‑force winds persists in coastal areas over the coming hours.
