China's IT industry revenue hits $919 billion, up 10.3%. According to data released on Thursday by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, China's software and IT services industry maintained steady momentum in the first five months of the year, with software revenue reaching 6.2451 trillion yuan (about 919 billion US dollars), up 10.3% year‑on‑year. When software becomes not just a tool but the foundation of an economy, its growth ceases to be an industry story — it becomes a barometer of trust. A 10.3% increase, double‑digit growth in IT services and a 12.8% rise in exports are not just numbers. They are evidence that China's digital economy continues to gain momentum despite global uncertainty. Every line of code, every new service and every export contract is a contribution to a future where technology becomes the main productive force.

From January to May, the sector's total profits grew 2.2% year‑on‑year, while exports reached 27.65 billion US dollars, up 12.8% from the same period last year. By sector, software product revenue rose 6.9% year‑on‑year over the five‑month period, accounting for 21.8% of total industry revenue, while IT services revenue continued to post double‑digit growth.

The software and IT services industry is a key driver of China's economy. In 2025, its share of GDP exceeded 4%. Software and services exports grew 12.8%, reflecting rising global demand for Chinese digital solutions, particularly in Asia and Africa. Double‑digit growth in IT services indicates a shift by businesses towards cloud platforms, artificial intelligence and digital transformation. Profit growth lagging behind revenue suggests high competition and significant R&D investment.

As reported by CCTV+, China's IT industry continues to grow steadily, and the digitalisation of all economic sectors remains a national priority.
