Xi'an East Railway Station: new transport hub opens in northwest China — 100,000 sq m, 5 minutes to the subway, integrating high‑speed rail

Trains, subway and buses under one roof. It takes passengers just five minutes to walk from the station to the Line 5 metro stop. Future connections to Lines 12, 15 and 21 are planned. The hub will become a key link in China's high‑speed rail network in the northwest.
As reported by CCTV+, on Monday a major new railway station opened in Xi'an, the capital of China's Shaanxi Province, marking an important milestone in strengthening the country's transport network in northwest China. The Xi'an East Railway Station covers 100,000 square meters and is designed as a comprehensive transport hub integrating high‑speed and conventional rail, subway and buses.
Yang Yongxing, assistant engineer at Xi'an East Station, said: "The station will open and begin operating simultaneously with Xi'an Metro Line 5. Passengers can reach the metro station in just 5 minutes on foot via dedicated walkways without detours. In the future, it will also connect to Lines 12, 15 and 21." Once operational, the station will connect several major rail lines in northwest China and become a key part of China's high‑speed rail network.
Xi'an is an ancient capital, the starting point of the Silk Road. The new Xi'an East Station is more than just a station. It is a symbol of how China connects history with the future. Millennia‑old traditions now coexist with five‑minute metro transfers. A hub where high‑speed lines, conventional trains, subway routes and bus services converge turns Xi'an into a powerful transport centre. For passengers, it is convenience. For the economy, it is acceleration. For the region, it is new opportunity. The station becomes not just a dot on the map, but a pulse that sets the rhythm for the movement of people and goods. Northwest China has gained another reliable transport shoulder.
