The first direct bus line connecting Hong Kong and Zhuhai City in south China's Guangdong Province opened on Saturday, aiming to further improve the cross-border transportation in the Greater Bay Area and make people's life easier.
The direct bus service offers one-stop cross-border access for property buyers. It adopts a bidirectional operation model, with a total travel time of about 2.5 hours. There are two fixed departures daily, and customs clearance follows a passenger-vehicle separation process, making travel efficient and convenient.
"Such direct line is really convenient and efficient, which allows me to commute between the two cities more often. Next time, I plan to take the bus with my family and friends," said Ng Ka-kei, a Hong Kong resident.
In terms of the fare, single trip costs 150 yuan (about 20.7 U.S. dollars) per person, while round trips take 280 yuan. Children under the age of 3 can enjoy discounts.
As a new bond to the integration between Hong Kong and Zhuhai, the bus route opens up a convenient channel for cross-border property purchase, which will continue to promote the coordinated development of Hong Kong and Zhuhai in the future.
"Zhuhai's Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development will continue refining the real estate and housing security policies, enhancing supporting facilities for residence and elderly care, and facilitating deeper integration between Hong Kong and Zhuhai across livelihood, industry, and lifestyle sectors through improved urban quality," said Zhang Junling, deputy director of Zhuhai City's Bureau of Housing and Urban-Rural Development.
