The sixth China International Consumer Products Expo (CICPE) opened in Haikou, the capital city of south China's Hainan Province, on Monday, offering a platform for global brands to showcase products and attract buyers from across the world.
The CICPE is China's only national-level exhibition featuring consumer products, and it is the largest consumer expo in the Asia-Pacific region. Since its launch in 2021, the expo has become an important platform for multinationals to stay abreast of consumer trends in China's gigantic market, with over 3,800 enterprises and more than 12,000 brands from 92 countries and regions participating over the past five editions.
Running until Saturday, this year's expo sees the participation of more than 3,400 brands from over 60 countries and regions.
It is China's first major expo since the National People's Congress approved the country's 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for national economic and social development, and the first to take place in Hainan since China launched island-wide special customs operations in Hainan in December 2025.
Boosted by the policy incentives, the number of international exhibits showcased on this year's event has increased 20 percent year on year, accounting for 65 percent of the total.
More international exhibitors are coming to China through the bridge connecting domestic and international markets built by the Expo, seeking more development opportunities. Canada, serving as a guest of honor for the first time, has set up a 400-square-meter pavilion and brought in nearly 40 Canadian companies to showcase their products.
Held under the theme "Sharing Open Opportunities, Creating a Better Life," this year's CICPE features a wide array of activities, including exhibitions, new product launches, and supply-demand matchmaking events.
To meet the needs of exhibitors and buyers, this year's expo will see launches of international premium products and matchmaking events for multinational companies under the 'Shopping in China' and 'Export to China' initiatives.
To support development of the Hainan Free Trade Port (FTP), the event will also hold a consumption-themed campaign focusing on FTP policies, offering a platform for international companies to invest and do business in China.
'First launches' are also highlighted in this year's event, with a series of global debuts, Asia-Pacific premieres, and goods debuts in China, bringing more high-quality products, cutting-edge technologies, and innovative achievements to the stage, positioning the Expo as a 'starting point' and 'must-visit destination' for global trendy lifestyles.
