China invests deeply in cutting-edge fields, dedicated to making technology inclusive and widely empowering, foreign ministry spokesman Lin Jian said at a press briefing in Beijing on Friday.
The 51st International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva recently concluded in Switzerland, with the Chinese delegation impressing both visitors and judges with a diverse and innovative showcase of over 200 inventions, 90 of which won the gold medal.
International media have highlighted China's placement of sci-tech self-reliance and strength at the core of its 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030), describing it as a "plan to win the future".
Commenting on the media reports, Lin said, "Currently, global sci-tech innovation is more dynamic than ever before, serving as a key driver for improving production efficiency, enhancing supply capacity, and unlocking potential growth. The outline of China's 15th Five-Year Plan includes dedicated provisions on how to 'achieve greater self-reliance and strength in science and technology and steer the development of new quality productive forces'. This will provide sustained momentum for advancing high-quality development and realizing Chinese-style modernization."
The outline of the 15th Five-Year Plan (2026-2030) for national economic and social development was approved at the fourth session of the 14th National People's Congress, China's national legislature, earlier this month.
"On the path where science and technology shape the future, we stand ready to move forward hand in hand with the rest of the world. From artificial intelligence to quantum technologies, from bio-manufacturing to green energy, China invests deeply in cutting-edge areas, dedicated to making technology inclusive and widely empowering. We are transforming our advantage as a super-sized market into rich application scenarios for global industrial innovation, and we look forward to exploring with all other countries the boundless possibilities of science and technology benefiting the entire world," said the spokesman.
