China's logistics sector saw boosted efficiency in 2025 with the large-scale application of advanced equipment and new technology, according to a report released on Thursday.
The 2025 China Logistics Technology Development Report, published by the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing, said that with the large-scale deployment of robots, smart sorting and unmanned delivery equipment, the supporting effect of logistics on China's economic development has been further enhanced while logistics efficiency steadily improved.
The report highlighted that the ratio of total logistics costs to gross domestic product fell to 13.9 percent in 2025, the lowest level on record, indicating reduced logistics expenses per unit of economic output.
"Logistics technology innovation plays a key role in building a safe, efficient, smart and green modern logistics system. China’s logistics equipment industry has formed an entirely new development paradigms through innovation and iteration, with logistics equipment export becoming a new growth engine for the sector," said Ma Zengrong, vice president and secretary-general of the federation.
Experts say China’s logistics equipment exports are shifting from simple product sales to integrated solutions combining technology, standards, and services. Among more than 240 countries and regions that trade with China, partner countries of the Belt and Road Initiative have become core markets for Chinese logistics equipment.
China’s government work report this year emphasized developing modern logistics and strengthening international delivery systems. Analysts expect embodied intelligence, large-scale unmanned delivery, and low-altitude logistics networks to further drive down costs.
