Profits of China’s major industrial firms increased 0.6 percent year-on-year to 7.3982 trillion yuan (about 1.06 trillion U.S. dollars) in 2025, data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) showed on Tuesday.
According to the data, the industrial firms above the designated size realized a total operating revenue of 139.2 trillion yuan (about 19.94 trillion U.S. dollars) last year, an increase of 1.1 percent compared to the previous year.
Profits of China's major industrial firms returned to growth in 2025, snapping a three-year streak of declines, with emerging sectors such as equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing serving as major growth drivers.
Major industrial firms refer to those with an annual main business revenue of at least 20 million yuan.
In the single month of December, profits of China's major industrial firms rose 5.3 percent year-on-year.
