China's bilateral and multilateral trade cooperation was fruitful in 2025, Vice Minister of Commerce Yan Dong said at a press conference in Beijing on Monday.
"Our multilateral and bilateral cooperation was apparently fruitful. In bilateral cooperation, under the strategic guidance of the head-of-state diplomacy, positive results were made in the China-U.S. economic and trade consultation, providing assurances for the global economy. We also signed the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area 3.0 upgrade protocol, launched and implemented the China-Maldives Free Trade Agreement, and advanced the implementation of unilateral opening-up measures such as giving zero-tariff treatment to all African countries having diplomatic relations with China, injecting more certainty and positive energy into global development. So far, China has signed 24 free trade agreements with 31 countries and regions, with free trade partners accounting for 45 percent of the total volume of trade in goods," said Yan.
"In multilateral cooperation, we have announced not to seek any new special and differential treatment in the current and future negotiations within the World Trade Organization (WTO). We are promoting pragmatic economic and trade development outcomes through multiple United Nations agencies, the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the BRICS, and the G20. China's International Economic and Trade Cooperation Initiative on Green Mining and Minerals has already attracted more than 20 countries and international organizations to participate, actively promoting win-win cooperation," said Yan.
