More than 15,000 China-Europe freight trains passed through the Erenhot Port during China's 14th Five-Year Plan period (2021-2025), highlighting the steady growth of cross-border freight through the hub, according to Hohhot Customs in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.
Erenhot, the largest land port between China and Mongolia, is the only entry and exit point on the middle corridor of the China-Europe freight train network.
The customs office at the port oversaw 16.5 million tonnes of cargo transported via the rail service,
The number of routes operating via the port increased from 54 in 2021 to 74 in 2025.
The expanded services now connect more than 70 cities across over 10 countries and regions, and also link with over 60 cities across China.
With its growing domestic and international reach, the corridor has emerged as a logistics network with broad coverage and stronger connectivity, playing an increasingly important role in facilitating cross-border trade and regional connectivity.
