The added value of China’s culture and tourism industries accounted for bigger shares of gross domestic product (GDP) in 2024, the National Bureau of Statistics said on Tuesday.
In 2024, the added value of the country's culture and related industries was around 6.2 trillion yuan (about 880 billion U.S. dollars), representing 4.61 percent of the GDP, up 0.02 percentage points compared to the previous year.
By sector, cultural services accounted for a larger share of the added value in China's culture and related industries compared with the previous year, comprising nearly 70 percent.
The added value of tourism and related industries reached 5.86 trillion yuan (about 840 billion U.S. dollars), representing 4.35 percent of the GDP, up 0.11 percentage points compared to the previous year.
In terms of internal composition, tourism contributed more than 90 percent of the added value in China's tourism and related industries, a higher proportion than in the previous year.
