Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun on Thursday briefed the media on China's participation in the High-Level International Forum dedicated to the International Year of Peace and Trust, which will be held in Turkmenistan on Friday.
At the invitation of Turkmenistan, President Xi Jinping's Special Envoy and Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress Peng Qinghua will attend the forum.
"Turkmenistan is a comprehensive strategic partner of China. This year marks the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan's permanent neutrality. It is also the International Year of Peace and Trust proposed by Turkmenistan and established by the United Nations General Assembly. China values the forum organized by Turkmenistan, and supports the country in its pursuit of permanent neutrality, and in playing a more constructive role on the international stage as a neutral country," Guo said at a regular press briefing in Beijing.
"China believes this visit will fully implement the important consensus reached by the top leaders of both countries, enhance political mutual trust and traditional friendship between China and Turkmenistan, expand the dimensions of bilateral cooperations, and inject more positive energy into the China-Turkmenistan community with a shared future," he said.
