Chinese airlines adjust ticketing policies for Japan routes
Major Chinese airlines have further extended their flexible ticketing policies for flights to and from Japan, allowing eligible passengers to make free changes or cancellations for travel through late March 2026, according to the announcements by carriers such as Air China and China Eastern Airlines on Friday.
The policy adjustment aims to assist affected travelers in better managing their itineraries.
With the updated rules, passengers holding tickets for inbound, outbound, or transit flights involving Japan, with a scheduled departure date on or before March 28, 2026, may now request fee-free refunds or rebookings.
The move represents an extension of the free-change policy first introduced in mid-November.
Since November 15, multiple airlines have been implementing similar flexible terms for tickets originally issued for travel between November 15 and December 31, 2025.
