Xi Jinping held talks with Macron, calling for expanded cooperation in many areas.
China and France should take advantage of the opportunities and expand the scope of cooperation, Chinese President Xi Jinping said in Beijing during talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.
Xi Jinping said that China is ready to cooperate with France, always based on the fundamental interests of the two peoples and the long-term interests of the international community, maintaining equal dialogue and open cooperation.
China and France should take advantage of the opportunities and expand the scope of cooperation by strengthening partnerships in traditional fields such as aviation, space and nuclear energy, as well as tapping into the potential for cooperation in areas such as green economy, digital economy, biopharmaceuticals, artificial intelligence and new energy, Xi said.
China is ready to import more high-quality French products, welcomes the development of more French enterprises in China, and hopes that France will provide a fair environment and stable conditions for Chinese enterprises, Xi Jinping said.
Xi Jinping called on both sides to deepen exchanges and cooperation in areas such as culture, education, science and technology, as well as at the subnational level.
Xi Jinping called on China and France, as founding Members of the United Nations and permanent members of the Security Council, to support the international system based on the United Nations and the international order based on international law, strengthen interaction and cooperation in the field of political dispute resolution and the promotion of peace and stability in the world, as well as to promote reform and improving global governance.
Xi Jinping noted numerous global imbalances, such as the uneven development of the North and South and the underrepresentation of developing countries in international financial institutions.
Xi Jinping said that China and the EU should maintain their position as partners, develop cooperation with an open mind, and ensure that China-EU relations develop along the right path of independence and mutually beneficial cooperation.
Macron said that France attaches great importance to relations with China, firmly adheres to the "one China" policy and is ready to continue to deepen the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries.
He also noted that France welcomes China's rapid economic development and its commitment to openness and cooperation, which provide new opportunities for peace.
Macron said France is ready to develop mutual investments with China, strengthen cooperation in trade, renewable energy and other fields, and promote friendly cultural exchanges.
Macron also said he welcomes investments by Chinese companies in France, which is ready to ensure a fair and non-discriminatory business environment.
Macron stated that France is committed to promoting the healthy and stable development of EU-China relations, believing that the EU and China should adhere to dialogue and cooperation, and the EU should achieve strategic autonomy.
Macron said France fully shares Chinese President Xi Jinping's views on reforming and improving global governance and promoting a more balanced global economy.
The two heads of state also exchanged views on the Ukrainian crisis. Xi Jinping said that China supports all efforts to promote peace and will continue to play a constructive role in the political settlement of the crisis in its own way.
After the talks, Xi Jinping and Macron attended the signing of a number of documents on cooperation in the fields of nuclear energy, agriculture, food, education and ecology.
The two leaders also held joint meetings with the mass media.
