Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with visiting French President Emmanuel Macron in Beijing, discussing ways to enhance bilateral ties and deepen mutual trust.
Li said China is ready to work with France to carry forward the traditional friendship, consolidate political mutual trust, expand two-way opening up, and strengthen cooperation across the board.
With global economic and trade frictions on the rise, all parties need to conduct timely communication to deepen understanding, agree to disagree and take concrete actions, and work together in the same direction to properly address each other's legitimate concerns, said the premier.
Li expressed the hope that France will encourage the European Union to focus on cooperation and properly handle differences between the two sides, so as to help ensure China-EU relations stay on the right track of development.
Macron, for his part, said France is willing to work with China to strengthen exchanges and dialogue, deepen cooperation in such fields as economy and trade, agriculture and renewable energy, step up coordination, safeguard free trade and the multilateral trading system, and promote the reform and improvement of the global governance system.
