The prestigious shipping fair Marintec China 2025 opened in Shanghai on Tuesday, showcasing a wide array of China-developed green power technologies in fields of shipbuilding and marine engineering.
The fair this year covers an area of over 110,000 square meters, bringing together over 2,200 exhibitors, as well as visitors from some 100 countries and regions around the world.
One of the most eye-catching achievements showcased at the event is a complete series of marine engines with the intellectual property rights fully owned by China, first released in China. The engines outline a comprehensive layout from small and medium power to ultra-large power.
The biggest highlight of the engines is their compatibility with a variety of future clean fuels. For example, a methanol fuel engine independently developed by China has achieved a methanol substitution rate of up to 95 percent. This technology has received widespread recognition in both domestic and international markets, achieving a significant leadership position in commercial applications.
Another high-performance ammonia fuel engine, also with the intellectual property rights fully owned by China, boasts an ammonia substitution rate of 86 percent and excellent thermal efficiency. The producer of the engine successfully signed its first commercial cooperation agreement at the fair, marking a crucial step from the laboratory to the mainstream market.
These advanced green power technologies have applications far beyond the ocean. They are being applied in a wider range of other fields, such as operation of large-scale mining machinery and energy security for zero-carbon industrial parks.
