China's electronic information manufacturing sector posted rapid production growth in the first 10 months of 2025, with steady profit expansion year on year, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
The value-added industrial output of companies above the designated size (those each with an annual main business turnover of at least 20 million yuan or 2.8 million U.S. dollars) in the sector rose 10.6 percent year on year in the 10-month period, which was 4.5 percentage points higher than that of the overall industrial sector and 1.3 percentage points higher than that of the high-tech manufacturing sector.
Judged by its overall development, the industry saw good results in both production and efficiency during the January-October period, which indicates stable advantages of China's industry chains and supply chains, as well as the strong support for growth from breakthroughs in the development of core technologies and optimization of the industrial structure, said the ministry.
From January to October, mobile phone production reached 1.25 billion units, including 1.02 billion smartphones, a year-on-year increase of 0.7 percent. A total of 386.6 billion units of integrated circuit were produced, a year-on-year increase of 10.2 percent, marking a steady increase in the production capacity of core components.
During the 10-month period, the combined operating revenue of the electronic information manufacturing companies above the designated size rose 8.3 percent year on year to 14 trillion yuan (about 1.98 trillion U.S. dollars), and the combined profits of these companies increased by 12.8 percent year on year to 570 billion yuan (about 80.5 billion US dollars).
The operating profit margin of the above-mentioned companies reached 4.07 percent in the period, 0.1 percentage point higher than that of the first nine months.
