New industries and business models are rapidly developing in rural areas thanks to the integration of agriculture with tourism, culture, sports, and e-commerce. The rural leisure and e-commerce sectors are growing quickly, creating new sources of income for farmers.
Retail sales of consumer goods in rural areas reached 5.5 trillion yuan from January to October, an increase of 4.6% compared to the previous year, with the growth rate exceeding that of urban areas by 0.4 percentage points. Online retail sales rose by 7.5%, while online sales of agricultural products increased by 9.5%.
The government has supported the establishment of 40 new competitive industrial clusters, 50 modern agro-industrial parks, and 200 major agricultural towns, contributing to the development of nearly 400 major industrial villages.
Specialized products are being developed under the principles of “small but refined” and “unique and beautiful,” enabling local goods to transform into significant industries and enhancing the resilience of rural regions.
