A Chinese tech firm has unveiled its newest autonomous electric mining truck, marking an important step in advancing global smart mining. Breton Technology presented the latest-generation vehicle on Nov. 21 in Wuhan, central China.
The truck, which removes the traditional cabin, is equipped with a self-developed intelligent driving system that enables fully automated and stable operation across loading, transportation, and unloading. “We redesigned and developed our sensors in-house to improve reliability and uptime. For autonomous driving, we applied end-to-end large-model algorithms similar to those used in passenger cars — among the first adopted for mining trucks,” said Chen Fangming, chairman of Breton.
Measuring about 10 meters long, 5.2 meters wide, and 4.8 meters high, the truck can carry up to 351 tons. Breton’s electric mining trucks developed this year have already been exported to several African countries, with 31 units currently in service.
Industry experts say this launch shows that China’s unmanned mining trucks have moved from technology demonstration to mass production, providing a safer, greener, and more cost-efficient solution for the global mining sector. Founded in 2016 and based in Shanghai, Breton focuses on pure electric loaders, mining trucks, and tractors.
