Over 100 wintering swans spotted in east China's Jiangsu
Over 100 wintering tundra swans have arrived in a lotus pond in east China's Jiangsu Province, creating a vibrant scene of natural beauty.
A wetland covering about 33 hectares in Jianhu County, Yancheng City serves as a regular stopover or wintering site for these elegant birds. The swans play joyfully with their companions amidst the reeds, bringing vitality to the serene countryside.
Their beauty attracts birdwatchers and photography hobbyists, who eagerly await their arrival each year.
"Actually, I've been here many times already, just waiting for the swans to come to Jianhu," said photography hobbyist Xu Zhengyan.
The pond boasts an excellent ecological environment, providing a safe habitat with high-quality water resources and ample space for the swans to forage.
"This year, we just conducted a survey and found that the number of arriving tundra swans was 154. They arrived as scheduled. As time goes by, more and more tundra swans will come here through the winter. The conditions here are extremely favorable for their habitation," said Zhou Chenxi, chairman of the Yancheng Birdwatching Association.
