Green trade emerges as new driver of China’s foreign trade
Green trade is becoming a major driver of China’s foreign trade, as companies producing eco-friendly products report rapid overseas growth.
In Liuzhou City of Guangxi, a machinery maker has seen strong demand for its electric loaders, which can run eight hours on one charge at only one-third the cost of diesel models. “Exports of Chinese electric loaders have risen 120% year on year, showing the growing maturity of electric-drive technology,” said Yao Dongxu of Guangxi LiuGong Machinery Co., Ltd.
China’s green exports - from electric equipment to photovoltaic components—continue expanding. In the first 10 months, wind turbine exports reached 10.33 billion yuan, up 44.9%, while photovoltaic exports have stayed above 200 billion yuan for four straight years. King Label Technology expects its eco-friendly product exports to hit 60 million USD, up 10% year on year.
China has built 6,430 national-level green factories, 491 green industrial parks, and promoted over 40,000 types of green products. Going forward, China aims to expand green product and technology trade, participate in global rule-setting, and strengthen enterprises’ green and low-carbon capabilities, according to Li Na of the Ministry of Commerce.
