BMW in China: Best sales in 2020

Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, BMW Group sold 777,379 vehicles under the BMW and MINI brands in China last year, its best annual sales in the country since 1994. The company achieved sales growth of 7.4% compared to 2019, although buyers did not visit car dealerships in the first quarter of 2020, when the pandemic peaked in China.

Jochen Goller, President and CEO of BMW Group in China, said China’s economy has shown great resilience and the German automaker is confident in the long-term development of the Chinese market.

Currently, BMW also produces the iX3 electric SUV in China and exports it to foreign markets.

In contrast to record sales in China, the volume of deliveries of BMW cars to the United States and Europe in 2020 was expressed only in double digits.

BMW Group declared that it plans to produce 25 models of electrified vehicles by 2023, and more than half of which will be fully electric.
