China's mobile internet traffic maintained rapid growth in the first quarter of 2026, according to the latest data released by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on Thursday.

According to the MIIT, total mobile internet traffic reached 104.4 billion gigabytes (GB) in the first three months of 2026, marking a 19.1 percent year-on-year increase.

Notably, the Dataflow of Usage (DOU) hit 23.4 GB in March, setting a new historical high for the same period.

DOU refers to the average mobile internet access traffic per household user and serves as a key indicator of monthly data consumption by mobile internet users.
