President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky accepted credentials from Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ukraine Toyly Atayev and expressed confidence that both sides will carry out effective steps for the further development of Ukrainian-Turkmen mutually beneficial cooperation.
«Interlocutors noted the interest of Ukraine and Turkmenistan in the intensification of political, trade and economic and cultural-humanitarian cooperation between two countries. The separate attention was given to the strengthening of cooperation in the construction sector», – the press-service of the head of Ukraine informs on Friday.
Zelensky expressed hope that the spread of COVID-19 will not prevent plans on activization of bilateral dialogue, and gave an invitation to President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to visit Ukraine.
Diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and Ukraine were established on October 10, 1992. Embassies in Kiev and Ashgabat started to function in 1995. It is necessary to note that Ukraine was among the first countries to recognize the state independence of Turkmenistan in December, 1991. Today between Turkmenistan and Ukraine 161 interstate document are in effect.
In Turkmenistan more than 8 investment projects with participation of the Ukrainian funds, including, for the sum of 3 138, 81 million US dollars, 2,09 million manats and 6,82 million euro, were registered. In Turkmenistan 27 enterprises with participation of the Ukrainian funds were also registered.
As old and reliable partners Construction Association “Interbudmontazh”, Altkom Financial Industrial Group, Group of Companies «Eurasian pipeline consortium», Frunze JSC «Sumy NPO», Research and Production Company «ENERGOSOYUZ», Open Joint Stock Company Engineering and Production Enterprise VNIPITRANSGAZ and others work in the Turkmen market.
Between Turkmenistan and Ukraine widespread cooperation in the field of culture was adjusted. In 2012 Days of culture of Turkmenistan in Ukraine, and in 2013 – Days of Ukrainian culture in Turkmenistan were marked.
Ukraine is one of the leading partners of Turkmenistan in the sphere of education. According to the latest data, received from the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, more than 6000 citizens of Turkmenistan get education in 106 higher educational institutions of Ukraine. With a view of the further development of cooperation in the education sphere the Council of rectors of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan and Ukraine was created. At sessions of the Council the sides regularly discuss cooperation issues between higher educational institutions of two countries.
