Many still remember the flow of guests from the former Soviet republics in 2012 and 2016 that was not observed earlier in Turkmenistan.
In the first case, Turkmenistan held a number of large events as the chairman of the CIS, and in the second, Dashoguz served as the cultural capital of the CIS.
This year again, on October 11, Ashgabat, in the framework of the Chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the CIS in 2019, will host a summit meeting – a meeting of the CIS Council of Heads of State and other important CIS events.
The list of events scheduled to be held this year is published on the Internet portal of the CIS.
A meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government will be held in in the Turkmen capital on May 31. The issues related to the expansion of economic and cultural cooperation, as well as the development of integration processes in the CIS space are expected to discus.

Dushanbe will host the High-level Conference “International and Regional Cooperation on Countering Terrorism and Its Financing Through Illicit Drug Trafficking and Organized Crime”.
Turkmenistan has a good experience of the chairmanship in the CIS. For example, the Presidency of official Ashgabat in 2012, as well as the fulfillment by Dashoguz of its mission of the cultural capital, were recognized by the heads of state and government, as well as by the expert community as one of the best in the history of the CIS.
Would Turkmenistan be able to improve the results?
We’ll learn this in less than a year.
