What issues to be considered at the meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government in Ashgabat?

Ashgabat will host a regular meeting of the Council of Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Heads of Government on May 31 within the framework of countries’ chairmanship in the CIS this year.

Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation Dmitry Medvedev, Prime Minister of Belarus Sergey Rumas, Prime Minister of Kazakhastan Askar Mamin, Deputy Prime Minister of Armenia Mher Grigoryan and representatives of other CIS countries will arrive in the Turkmen capital.

According to the CIS Executive Committee, during the meeting, a number of important issues of economic, humanitarian and other cooperation of the CIS member-states will be discussed.

In a narrow format, the parties will exchange views on topical issues of economic cooperation in the Commonwealth countries, agree on the date and venue of the next meeting of the Council of the CIS Heads of Government. In addition, in a wide format, new projects for an Interstate Program of Innovative Cooperation of the CIS Member States for the period up to 2030, an Agreement on the interaction of the customs authorities of the CIS member states in protection of rights to intellectual property are planned to be considered. In addition to further strengthening and developing of customs cooperation in the CIS member countries, the document will create a legal basis for the exchange of important information between customs authorities.

Moreover, the heads of government of the CIS member states will also consider an agreement on cooperation between museums, a protocol on amending the agreement on the procedure for customs clearance and customs control of goods transferred between the states parties to the agreement and a protocol on amending the agreement on the procedure for transit through the territories of the CIS countries.

Furthermore, a decision on appointment of the first deputy head of the CIS Antiterrorist Center will be made.
