UN Secretary-General – on “uncertainty around” and youth as stimulus to change

Secretary-General of the United Nations Antonio Guterres addressed the world community with a message in honor of the upcoming 2020.

– We are entering 2020 with uncertainty around, the UN chief said in his address. – Against a persistent inequality, prolonged wars, and global warming, we cannot afford to be a generation that doesn’t take actions while the planet is “burning”.

According to Guterres, great hope in this issue is set on young people as the main engine for change.

– I am inspired by your passion and determination. Your generation is ahead from the actions in climate change to gender equality, social justice and human rights. The world needs young people who express frankly their opinion. Keep thinking big, open up new horizons, said he.

– The United Nations supports you and belongs to you, stated the Secretary-General.

In 2020, the UN celebrates 75 years since its founding. In connection with this significant date, it launches the Decade of actions for achieving the sustainable development goals – the Fair Globalization Plan.
