UN General Assembly Committee urged to support tourism in Central Asia

The Second Committee of the 74th session of the UN General Assembly adopted a draft resolution on the development of tourism in Central Asia. The document was co-sponsored by Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan.

The draft resolution “Sustainable Tourism and Sustainable Development in Central Asia” notes that thanks to the efforts of the states of the region to promote tourism, the flow of travelers in Central Asia is increasing.

The UN member states noted the significant contribution of Central Asian countries to strengthening regional stability and sustainable development. In this regard, the General Assembly invited interested parties and the World Tourism Organization to support the activities carried out by the countries of Central Asia on the development of tourism.

The Second Committee discusses issues of economic development, problems of bridging the gap in access to advanced technologies and ways to raise funds for development.
