UN Assistance Mission in Afghanistan highly appreciates Turkmenistan’s contribution to support its southern neighbor

The comprehensive activities carried out by Turkmenistan to strengthen peace in Afghanistan were positively assessed by the delegation of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan, which arrived in Ashgabat, and held talks at the Foreign Ministry of the country, according to the website of the Foreign Ministry.

The group was headed by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary General for Afghanistan, Tadamichi Yamamoto, who noted the effectiveness of cooperation between Turkmenistan and its southern neighbor.

As part of the negotiations, additional opportunities were discussed to enhance the involvement of Afghanistan in international projects, including in Central Asia.

Currently, at the initiative of Turkmenistan, the largest Asian project of the TAPI gas pipeline is being implemented, the construction of which will create about 12,000 jobs in Afghanistan and will bring about $ 1 billion to the state’s treasury every year.
