The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Ashgabat handed over to the Ministry of foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan a copy of the document titled “Human fraternity for world peace and living together”, nCa news agency reported.
This document, sometimes called the Catholic-Muslim declaration, was signed by the head of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis, and the Grand Imam of al-Azhar University, Ahmad al-Tayyib, in Abu Dhabi in February this year at the international conference “Human Fraternity”.
During the meeting in the foreign ministry of Turkmenistan, the Chargé d’affaires of the UAE Embassy in Turkmenistan Abdulaziz Abdullah al-Hashemi stressed the importance of this document for global peace and coexistence, and its importance for the UAE, especially since various events are held in the UAE on the occasion of announcement 2019 – the Year of Tolerance in the UAE.
The document “Human fraternity for world peace and living together” calls on world leaders, politicians, intellectuals, philosophers, religious leaders, representatives of the arts and the media to join efforts to promote the ideals of tolerance and the values of peace on which all religious teachings are based.
The document emphasizes the the dialogue between believers should move towards mutual understanding and concord, avoiding unproductive disputes. After all, this is the only way to alleviate to a large extent the burden of economic, social, political and environmental problems that are currently weighing on humanity.
Ensuring the security of worship places (synagogues, churches and mosques), denying the connection of terrorism and extremism with religion, the need to strengthen ties between East and West for the mutual cultural enrichment, adopting commitments to protect the rights of women, children and the elderly – among the key points of the document, in fact, addressed to each of us.
The principles of tolerance, peacemaking, humanism, the desire for peaceful equal dialogue, firmly embedded in the mentality of the Turkmen people, are the pillars of the foreign policy concept of Turkmenistan and integral elements of the social order.
There are a lot of examples, testifying that, starting from warm greetings and exchange with tasty treats between neighbors during the celebration of Easter, Eid al-Adha or Eid al-Fitr (and it does not matter whether you are a Christian or a Muslim), concluding with the ideas, gaining whole-hearted support from the world community. Thus, in September this year, the UN General Assembly adopted a Resolution declaring 2021 the International year of peace and trust, initiated by Turkmenistan and aimed at encouraging the promotion of a culture of peace on a global scale.
