Turkmenistan will expand dialogue with the CIS on information security and humanitarian issues

The Meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held on Thursday, December 10, in the format of a videoconference.

Among other issues, the diplomats coordinated the texts of Joint Statements by the CIS heads of states parties on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the UN formation and on cooperation in the field of international information security. These documents will be submitted for signature to the first persons during the meeting of the Council of Heads of the Commonwealth States on December 18.

The Ministers also adopted a Plan for inter-ministerial consultations for 2021. While discussing it, the Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov has turned attention of colleagues that the initiative on expanding partnerships between diplomatic service was put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at the Summit of the CIS heads of states in 2017.

Turkmenistan also supported the decision to declare 2022 as the Year of Folk Art and Cultural Heritage in the Commonwealth, and 2023 as the Year of the Russian language as the language of interethnic communication.
