The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Turkmenistan organized a briefing for representatives of the media on the festive events that will be celebrated in the republic in 2020.
This year Kazakhstan will have a high level celebration of the 1150th anniversary of the great thinker of the East, the philosopher Abu Nasyr al-Farabi, as well as the 175th anniversary of the outstanding Kazakh poet and enlightener Abay Kunanbaev.
– We attach great importance to the celebration of these dates. The great personalities of Al-Farabi and Abay demonstrate to the world community that education, science, culture and literature have long been developing in the Kazakh steppe. For us, this is an enduring historical value,” Yerkebulan Sapiev, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Turkmenistan, said in his speech.
The 1150th anniversary of Abu Nasyr al-Farabi is included in the calendar of memorable dates of UNESCO and will be widely celebrated at international venues. This will give a powerful impetus to the study and understanding of the scientist’s heritage both in Kazakhstan and abroad.
From March 30 to April 7, an international scientific expedition “Following Al-Farabi’s Footsteps” will be organized, which will pass through the territories of Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan and Iran. Members of the expedition (54 people) will visit the historical places where the philosopher grew up and worked.
During the stay of the expedition in Turkmenistan, scientists from Kazakhstan will visit the historical sites of the ancient Merv, where Al-Farabi once studied and worked. Ashgabat will host the international scientific conference “Following Al-Farabi: Merv” with the participation of the diplomatic corps, creative and scientific intelligentsia of Turkmenistan. In this regard, the plenipotentiary invited representatives of the media in Turkmenistan to participate in the coverage of this event.
– Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan are connected by a single culture, religion, language. Therefore, our task is to popularize our heritage among the younger generation,” the diplomat noted.
An international scientific symposium “Al-Farabi and World Civilization” will be held in the capital of Kazakhstan, and Turkmen scientists are also invited to participate.
Also, the embassy of the country plans to hold thematic meetings with Turkic scientists at the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, round tables with creative and scientific intelligentsia in the National Library of the country dedicated to the legacy of Al-Farabi and Abay Kunanbayev.
One of the most important events will be the presentation of the book by Abay Kunanbayev in the Turkmen language, as well as the opening of the poet’s corner at Magtymguly Turkmen State University. The diplomatic mission also plans to organize in the Turkmen capital a concert of the honored artist of Kazakhstan Kenzhegali Myrzhykbay “Abai and the Great Steppe”.
