Turkmenistan opens the Consulate General in Kazan, the capital of Tatarstan. The corresponding decree, in order to further develop bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, was signed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The leaders of Turkmenistan and Tatarstan reached an agreement to open the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Kazan during the working visit of Berdimuhamedov to the Republic of Tatarstan on June this year.
The opening of the Consulate at the territory of Tatarstan would contribute to the further development of relations, to strengthen cultural, humanitarian, trade and economic ties. It would facilitate the visa services to Turkmen citizens, as well as to numerous students studying in Tatarstan. The possibility to increase the number of flights between Ashgabat and Kazan is also being discussed.
It is the second Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Russia. The first, in Astrakhan, was opened in February 2013.
