Turkmenistan made its debut at the 2018 IIHF World Championship Division III qualification tournament

The 2018 World Championship Division III qualification tournament under the International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) – an international ice hockey tournament – holds in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina, February 25 to 28.

Four national teams of Turkmenistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, UAE, and Kuwait participate in the tournament. The team placing first in the qualification tournament will be promoted to Division III of 2019 World Hockey Championship.

On Sunday, February 25, an awesome play between the teams of Turkmenistan and the UAE took place. Turkmenistan won their first ever game in the World Championships, defeating the United Arab Emirates with a score of 4:0, which were scored by I.Veleyev, A.Aganiyazov, D.Soyunov, and A.Geldymyradov.

According to the fans of the Turkmen team, the match was fascinating, and there was no doubt about the victory of the Turkmen team. The competition was held in arena of Sarajevo that hosted the 1984 Olympics.

The team of Turkmenistan is promoted to the Group A of the 2019 World Hockey Championship Division III. It should be noted that the rivals of the Turkmen team – the UAE national team – was 7th in Division III last year.

The competition excitement and the first victory will be the main incentives to further competitions for our team.
