During 28 years of its presence in the ranks of WHO members, Turkmenistan has done a lot of work to develop its health system in accordance with generally accepted international principles and norms, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said during a video meeting with WHO Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.
The head of state recalled that his message to the head of WHO on April 14 outlined the important stages that Turkmenistan has passed along this path, including the accumulated experience and broad international cooperation.
Today, the world is facing a new challenge in the form of a coronavirus pandemic, and the
country has taken systematic measures to prevent COVID-19, the Turkmen leader continued. He noted that Turkmenistan is also putting forward its own initiatives to unite the efforts of states in the fight against the pandemic.
This is the creation of a special, multilateral format in the field of scientific diplomacy to promote closer cooperation of scientists, researchers, doctors, experts on the origin of a new type of coronavirus, detection, treatment and prevention methods.
“We are ready to work together in this and other areas with the World Health Organization and other interested partners,” said Mr.Berdimuhamedov.
