The Code of Rules for the application of neutralism principles in ensuring peace and security, which development initiative was put forward by Turkmenistan during the current session of the UN General Assembly, can be used as a mechanism to avoid confrontations in the world and prevent their rising to the force application stage, shift conflict situations to a peaceful, negotiating framework.
This was specified by President Berdimuhamedov at the Forum “Turkmenistan and International Organizations: Cooperation for Peace and Development”. The Forum on the 25th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent neutrality is held at the Oguzkent Hotel in Ashgabat.
In his speech, the head of Turkmen state emphasized the importance of supporting reconciliation processes in Afghanistan. Turkmenistan is ready to provide all conditions for establishing a peaceful dialogue on Afghanistan, the President said.
– There is no alternative to the negotiation process. As all previous experience has shown, force methods are counterproductive and have no prospects, Berdimuhamedov emphasized.
Turkmenistan constantly renders economic support to Afghanistan, builds social facilities in the neighboring country, supplies electricity at reduced rates, sends humanitarian aids, and admits Afghan students to the Turkmen institutes of higher education.
Such support will be further provided, the Turkmen leader said. According to him, large infrastructure projects with the participation of Afghanistan, primarily in the field of energy and transport are the basic condition for political stabilization, economic and social development of this country.
We will continue to work on the implementation of such projects, and we are ready to expand cooperation with international organizations to support Afghanistan, Berdimuhamedov said.
