On October 30 and 31, Ufa will host the All-Russian Festival of Sesenov (narrators), and for the first time, this year’s edition will be held online.
The event will gather narrators (sesens, akyns, djangarchi, ashugis, kaychi, manaschi, olonhosuts, performers of epics, mugam, kyuy and other folk tales from different regions of Russia, near and far abroad. The Republic of Bashkortostan will be represented by the winners and laureates of the republican competitions of sesenov and the interregional competition “Yyrau”.
The geography of participants is wide; the organizing committee of the competition received 35 applications. The list of performers includes experts on folk art from the regions of Penza, Ulyanovsk, Tambov, Orenburg, Chelyabinsk and Sverdlovsk, the Republic of Komi, the Nenets Autonomous District, Udmurtia, Altai, Tatarstan, Perm Krai and the city of Yekaterinburg.
On October 30, within the framework of the festival, a scientific and practical conference “Folk culture in the modern world: traditions, narrator skills and ritual” will take place, which to be attended by scientists, folklorists from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Armenia, Turkmenistan, the republics of Kalmykia, Tatarstan, Yakutia, Bashkortostan, the cities of Gorno-Altaysk, Yekaterinburg, Moscow, St. Petersburg and Lipetsk. The event is dedicated to the preparation for the VI World Folkloriada.
The project is aimed to promote folk art, develop and expand the epic genre of the peoples of Russia, familiarize with the multinational culture and traditions of the peoples of Bashkortostan, Russia and foreign countries. Organizers: the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Republican Center for Folk Art, the Center of Sesenov of the Republic of Bashkortostan, the Institute of History, Language and Literature of the UFIC RAS.
