Turkmenistan has naturalized 2,580 persons without citizenship

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, guided by the principles of humanism, generally recognized international standards for the protection of human rights and freedoms and taking into account the right of people to freely choose their citizenship, signed a Decree “On admission to citizenship of Turkmenistan”.

The document grants Turkmen citizenship to 2,580 stateless persons. These are representatives of 19 nationalities permanently residing on the country’s territory.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the State Migration Service have been assigned together with other agencies to continue working on the document registration of stateless persons who have applied for citizenship of Turkmenistan, with the subsequent submission of relevant proposals for consideration of the head of state.
