Turkmenistan and UNESCO have discussed cooperation in the area of protection of historical monuments and culture, having devoted online meeting to the 25th anniversary of Turkmen neutrality. Representatives of the leading research centres of the given profile took part in the videoconference on this theme from 20 countries and Turkmen scientists – historians, archaeologists, ethnographers, linguists and others.
The subjects of sections of conferences covered historical preconditions of neutrality of Turkmenistan, interaction with UNESCO in the sphere of popularisation of heritage of Turkmen people on concrete examples, cooperation development in other scientific areas connected with cultural researches.
It also touched upon ways of international scientific exchange and ways of actualisation of heritage, educational aspect and strengthening of personnel potential in this area.
New proposals of Turkmenistan on inclusion of national traditions into the Representative list of UNESCO on intangible cultural heritage of mankind were also considered.
Among them – three unique national schools connected with Akhalteke horse breeding, development of alabay dog breed and art of bagshy. Among nominees are also the monuments located along the Great Silk Road, which passed through Turkmenistan.
Preparation for inclusion in the Global network of creative cities of UNESCO Ashkhabad which was announced in a nomination “Design”, Turkmenabat – «Crafts and national creativity», and in the future and cities of Mary – in the area “Literature” was also discussed.
