Turkmenistan and Iran develop frontier cooperation

Governors of Mary region of Turkmenistan and the Iranian Razavi Khorasan Province held a videoconference in the course of which they discussed issues of frontier cooperation.

According to the reports of leading Iranian mass-media, the delegation from Mary led by the head of regional administration Dovranberdi Annaberdyev and Governor General of Khorasan-e-Razavi province Mr. Ali Reza Razm Hussaini considered a wide spectrum of mutual relations between two subjects of the neighbouring countries.

Ali Reza Razm Hussaini characterized Khurasan-Razavi as one of the most important provinces of Iran and specified: «this province with the population of 6 million people and 30 million tourists a year possesses numerous economic, tourist, agricultural and historical possibilities and more than 6000 active industrial facilities and its export in the province a year make up 2 billion dollars».

Governor General of Khurasan-Razavi noted presence of the largest ore factory in the given region of Iran and underlined the export of saffron and pistachios among other products of the province. He also reminded that Khurasan-Razavi achieved a considerable progress in the field of medicine and accepts set of tourists for treatment from such countries as Iraq, India and Afghanistan.

Telling about cooperation against the coronavirus pandemic the Governor General of Khurasan-Razavi told that now Iran makes 11 million masks a day and exports a number of disinfectants.

Dovranberdi Annaberdyev also told about huge all-round potential of Mary region of Turkmenistan and in particular, its role in manufacture of power energy, mineral products and home appliances, cotton, wheat and sugar beet and others.

– We will use our best efforts to improve relations between two countries, and in the conditions of present economic realities in the world, we welcome any offers on development of economic relations between two countries, – the head of Mary region stated.

The sides agreed to hold joint meetings of economic and trading blocks of both provinces, and made a decision one more video conference of governors of both provinces within next month.

The Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mary added: «Besides trading and commercial relations, the industry of tourism and certainly health tourism and other possibilities in public health services and medicine sphere are among the areas which are of interest for interaction between provinces Khurasan-Razavi and Mary».

According to the top Iranian diplomat, during the online conversation interests of both parties in the spheres of economy, trade, power energy, in particular in electric power industry, enterprise activity in the field of mining industry and petrochemistry were discussed.

The Iranian diplomat also added that at today’s online meeting the Governor General of Khurasan-Razavi thanked Turkmenistan for its humanitarian help in the form of delivery of batches of medical preparations to this province during the outbreak of coronavirus in Iran.
