Turkmen silk producers have over-fulfilled the plan on production of cocoons

In Turkmenistan, silk producers have produced more than 2 thousand 262 tons of silk cocoons, having over-fulfilled the plan by 11.5%. It was reported by Mammethan Chakiyev on the working session today held by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov with participation of some vice-premiers, heads of the Ministry of Agriculture and Natural Protection, the State Water Management Committee, Vatan news program of the Turkmen State Broadcasting Committee reports.

The largest contribution to the production of raw materials for the textile industry of the country is traditionally made by Lebap – silk producers of Lebap province have delivered more than 1,142 tons of cocoons to the state, having fulfilled the plan by 119 percent. The northern Dashoguz province produced 503 tons (103%), Ahal – more than 156 tons (101%), Mary – more than 434 tons (107%) and Balkan province – 25 tons (100%). Production of silk cocoons is continued.

Berdimuhamedov congratulated silk producers of the country with important work indicators that would contribute to the increasing in the production of local natural silk. The head of state also gave assignments for organization of mass plantations of mulberry trees, which is the main base for production of silk cocoons.
