The efficient use of hydrocarbons in the Caspian Sea can give a strong impetus to the dynamic growth of the national economies of the coastal and neighboring countries, President Berdimuhamedov said in his speech at the Caspian Economic Forum.
The head of state noted the social effect of increasing hydrocarbon production, and the associated industrial growth, which is able to fundamentally change the economic landscape in this part of the world.
The president also identified transport topics as a key area of cooperation in the Caspian. The Caspian states should establish a good system of transport links between themselves, build a modern port infrastructure, and ensure efficient logistics, Berdimuhamedov said.
The head of Turkmenistan put forward the idea of creating a Caspian regional logistic center to coordinate activities on the formation and functioning of Asia-Europe transport and transit corridors.
The Caspian economic strategy of Turkmenistan is based on the implementation of large-scale and long-term projects in such areas as energy, industry, transport, trade, Berdimuhamedov said.
Speaking about the establishment of trade relations of the Caspian region with foreign markets, the President noted that they should be free from politicization, work on clear and transparent principles. It is necessary to actively interact with the UN Economic Commission for Europe, the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, the World Trade Organization and other international associations, said Berdimuhamedov.
