Turkmen periodicals go online from 2021: paper media are only for pensioners

It seems that the era of paper newspapers and magazines is gradually becoming a thing of the past. Thus, ORIENT learned that from January 1st, 2021, subscribers will receive newspapers and magazines of Turkmenistan in electronic format, only pensioners will be able to receive paper media.

The country’s post offices began to subscribe to newspapers and magazines for the first half of 2021, so that subscribers from January 1 began to receive periodicals in electronic format. The subscription price is 60 manats for six months. For this amount, the subscriber gets access to almost all newspapers and magazines published in the country. The package includes 21 newspapers and 8 magazines. You cannot subscribe to one or more publications.

Retirees can subscribe to traditional printed newspapers and magazines. This is understandable. Most older people have some difficulty in mastering computer and digital technologies. Seniors can also subscribe to one or more publications they need. For example, the cost of a subscription to the newspaper “Turkmenistan” or “Neutral Turkmenistan” is 18 manats for 6 months. To sign up, retirees must come to the post office with a pension card.

ORIENT previously wrote that a number of similar printed media will be united in Turkmenistan.
