The Turkmen-Hungarian business forum was held in Budapest today, during which a presentation of leading host companies and a discussion of new opportunities for cooperation took place.
The delegation of Turkmenistan at the forum was welcomed by the Secretary of State for Information and International Representation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Hungary Tamas Mentser and Director for External and Corporate Relations of the Hungarian Export Promotion Agency Andrea Nestor.
The economic potential of Turkmenistan and bilateral relations was described in his speech by Minister of Finance and Economy Batyr Bazarov. According to him, in recent years the list of export-import products has expanded in the trade turnover of Hungary and Turkmenistan, including in the non-primary sector. At the same time, there are still unused resources for cooperation in industry, energy, transport infrastructure and communications, in the field of water management and environmental protection, in education, science, and tourism.
The Minister drew the attention of Hungarian businessmen to plans to increase the industrial capacities of Turkmenistan, in particular, in the chemical industry and the production of mineral fertilizers, and other processing industries.
Important areas of partnership were the digital economy, innovative technologies, communications, telecommunications, computer science, and the transport and logistics sector.
Bazarov announced the upcoming international conference of landlocked transport ministers of developing countries in March in Turkmenistan and invited the Hungarian side to participate in this forum.
Turkmenistan was represented at the business forum by a number of government agencies, the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs, whose members held a series of business negotiations in B2B format.
On Tuesday, January 21, the 4th meeting of the Turkmen-Hungarian intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation will be held in Budapest.
