An athlete from Turkmenistan – player of the Shir HC Novruz Baykhanov – will perform at the 2020 Youth Olympic Games, which will be held in Lausanne (Switzerland) from January 9th to 22nd. Turkmen hockey players have not yet participated in these prestigious competitions held by the International Olympic Committee (IOC).
It was Novruz Baykhanov who, according to the IOC testing results, showed the best result in his age category, both in physical and technical data.
According to the head coach of HC “Shir” Rovshen Gelendzhaev, Novruz is one of the best players in the youth team of Turkmenistan.
In his years, a student of the Ashgabat secondary school No. 48 can easily become a player in an adult hockey team of the country, as he has good speed, technical and strong shots.
This year, participants in the Youth Olympic Games will perform in a new form of ice hockey – in a 3 by 3 format.
