Turkmen farmers started cotton planting

Turkmen cotton growers have begun planting a new crop – sowing has started today in four of five regions of the country: Akhal, Balkan, Lebap and Mary. A few days later, on Sunday, cotton sowing will begin in the northern, Dashoguz Region.

Starting from this season, Turkmenistan has increased the area of land under cotton up to 620 thousand hectares, focusing on its full ginning inside the country, and expanding the textile production.

Accordingly, the state order was also raised up to 1 million 250 thousand tons of cotton. Most of it (365 thousand tons) is grown in the Mary Region, followed by Lebap (320 thousand tons), Akhal (280 thousand tons), Dashoguz (275 thousand tons), and Balkan (10 thousand tons).

More than 7 thousand 600 tractors of various brands, thousands of seeders, cultivators and other machines will be operated to help farmers.
