Farmers of Turkmenistan will start harvesting grain on June 5. This decision was made by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov at a government meeting via video link.
Three of five regions of the country – Akhal, Lebap and Mary – will start harvesting wheat on June 5, and farmers of Balkan and Dashoguz regions will join the harvest on June 12.
This year, Turkmen farmers will have to crop 1 million 400 thousand tons of grain from 690 thousand hectares.
This will be not an ordinary harvest – a harvest under the pandemic conditions. And the wheat harvested this year will have a special significance for the country and people. In a situation when the usual trade, economic and transport links have been severed, domestic manufactured bread will have a truly strategic significance for all countries of the world.
