Turkmen eSports players to compete at Central Asian tournament in Almaty

The top gamers from Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan will meet at the World Electronic Sports Games 2019 Central Asia, which will be held in Almaty on 16-17 November.

The game program includes four traditional disciplines: Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO), Dota 2, StarCraft II, Pro Evolution Soccer 2020.

The championship will be a qualifying platform for participation in a more serious competition in Malaysia. Two winners in the disciplines of CS:GO and Dota 2, as well as the strongest in the disciplines of StarCraft II and Pro Evolution Soccer 2020 will get a chance to participate in the qualifying stage of the Asia-Pacific region, which will be held from 2 to 5 January 2020 in Kuala Lumpur.

Turkmenistan will be represented at the regional cyber-battle in Kazakhstan by the following teams:

    • In the discipline of CS:GO – team Galkynysh
    • In the discipline Dota 2 – team Gravity
    • In the discipline of PES 2020 – player Arif Huseynov.

The team Galkynysh is the winner of the national qualifying games, participant of WESG 2018 Central Asia and AIMAG-2017. In October this year, for the third year in a row Galkynysh awarded the WESG Turkmenistan champion title in the discipline of Counter Strike: Global Offense.

The National E-sports Federation of Turkmenistan, established in 2018, is a relatively young sports association. However, during the year of its activity, NFES became a member of the Asian E-sports Federation and hosted over 10 tournaments, involve more than 1000 gamers. From 2020, the Federation plans to launch the Turkmen intellectual-eSports school league.
