A large group of Turkmen artists arrived in Kazan today, having made a special flight from Ashgabat International Airport. In the capital of Tatarstan, on June 23, the artists will take part in the Tatar national holiday Sabantui and perform at its various venues. The Birch grove (Beryozovaya roshcha) in Mirny village, where President of Tatarstan Rustam Minnikhanov and the head of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov are expected to arrive, will be the main celebration venue.
The Turkmen delegation comprises of instrumental orchestras, dance groups, pop singers, including such stars as soloists Gulshat Kurdova, Annaguly Myratdurdyev, Leyli Okdirova, as well as other cultural workers, in total more than a hundred artists.
Bakhshi, Tuiduk player Serdar Haydarov, percussion player Hakberdy Allamuradov and others will present the ethnographic part of the musical numbers.
Besides, Turkmen folk crafts, rare samples of national applied art, traditional jewelry, and book exhibition will be exhibited. In addition, visitors will be treated with healing teas from Turkmenistan and national festive meal.
At the Sabantui celebrations, summer holiday of plow and field works, the Turkmen delegation will perform a folklore theatrical program with ancient customs, folk games, etc. The traditional sporting competitions such as göreş (Turkmen wrestling) that is similar to kureş (Tatar wrestling) will also take place.
Turkmen artists will join celebration festivities at the international equestrian complex “Kazan”, where they will race in honor of Sabantui, as well as give a concert at the Galiaskar Kamal Tatar Academic Theatre.
