Baku based International Fund Eurasia Press and the Embassy of Turkmenistan to Azerbaijan can establish cooperation in various fields in line with the growing Turkmen-Azerbaijani cooperation. This was discussed during the visit of the Ambassador of Turkmenistan in this country Mekan Ishanguliyev to the Fund’ headquarters.
Head of IFEP Umud Mirzayev briefed the Turkmen envoy on the work and projects of the NGO. Since its establishment in 1992, the Fund has been involved in peacekeeping activities, solving the problems of refugees and internally displaced persons, and social development. One of the important activities is the dissemination of objective information in the press.
According to Mirzayev, the Fund has significantly expanded its partner network outside Azerbaijan in many countries of the world.
IFEP, which has a special consultative status with the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), cooperates with many international structures, diplomatic missions in Azerbaijan and implements humanitarian projects.
In turn, Ambassador Ishanguliyev noted that Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan are closely linked by cultural and historical roots and the main task of the Turkmen diplomatic mission is further expanding and strengthening ties between the peoples of the two countries.
It was also stressed that the official visit of President Berdymuhamedov to Azerbaijan greatly encouraged the growth of relations.
At the end of the meeting, Mekan Ishanguliyev thanked the head of IFEP for the invitation and presented the book of the leader of Turkmenistan “The Living Legend”, telling about the traditions of Turkmen carpet weaving.
